In Bristol, they have opened a new museum (opened 2018) at the SS Great Britain called “Being Brunel“. If you are already visiting the SS Great Britain it is a great add on to learn more about Brunel. The man behind the SS Great Britain and the Bristol Suspension Bridge.
What was particularly interesting from my perspective and what I wanted to share with you was the fantastic collection of his letters, notebooks and sketchbooks.
The collection includes a number of interesting items of note. His tunnel journal 1826-1827, a personal diary from 1827-1828, his folding ruler (1825-1859), silver propelling pencil as well as many other sketchbooks and notebooks with both engineering sketches and architectural ones.
So if you are in Bristol and you are interested be sure to check it out.
