Originally from rural Cambridgeshire, Jo settled in the Lakes after years working & travelling overseas.
Frustrated after long shifts working in pubs & cleaning toilets, she decided that there had to be more to life. She picked up a paint brush & began working in a corner of her tiny staff flat… A few years on, art has become on occupation & way of life!
Jo did not go to art school, but there is a strong tradition of art in her family. she is related to a several Royal Academicians, including WF Witherington, who has paintings in the Tate; and HW Pickersgill, a celebrated portrait painter who exhibited alongside JMW Turner.
The postcards are of images inspired by the Lake District and the collection features 27 well-loved landmarks to choose from. I chose Ambleside and Windermere since we were staying between the two.
