The idea behind Betterbook was to create a better notebook. Well this depends on what you need in a notebook and what you think is “better”. However, I have got to say, the purpose for which Betterbook is created and the what it looks to achieve work – and work well.
As set out in the original Kickstarter campaign the notebook is:
- Better at capturing & scanning with your phones
- Better images displayed with no white/black bars
- Better fit on your desk just below the keyboard
- Better note organization and time management
So let’s start with better fit on your desk. This I agree with. It fits nicely below and in line with the Keyboard and actually functions pretty well as n arm/wrist rest when I am typing.
Next is better at capturing and scanning with your phones and better images displayed with no white /black bars.
Well before I started working from home due to Covid-19 I didn’t actually scan and capture my notes from my notebooks. I didn’t need to. However, now I am actually scanning my notes on a more regular basis. This wasn’t a problem I personally was thinking needs solving BUT the betterbooks seems to do this quite well.
The deliberate distinct 0.5cm/1cm black border allows your phone or scanning apps to scan instantly making it easier to point and click. The ratio of the notebook also is designed to fit the screen of your mobile without needing to adjust, zoom etc to try and make it work.
The last claim is better note organisation and time management. This one I am not so sure about as everyone has a different organisational system so this can be hard to make “better”. However, the symbol in the corner of the page is flexible enough that most people can use it in a way that works for them. The symbol is designed to help you organize your work and can be used for marking edits, adding deadlines, or any other important information.
