Leuchtturm 1917 – Monthly Planner with Notebook [re-visited]

The LEUCHTTURM 1917 monthly planner features a double-page spread for each month, with weeks listed horizontally underneath one another. I have recently finished by 2021 Planner (which ran from Nov. 2020 until Feb 2022). The Planner Section includes Overview Calendar for 2020-2022; Year Planner which includes a vertical calendar with a quarter per page for both 2021 and 2022 this was great for important dates, International Holiday Holidays Page, a Project Plan for 2021 and 2022 and then a Month on 2 Pages planner starting in November 2020 and ending in February 2022.

I am quite fussy when it comes to my planners as they either work or they don’t, but there was a lot of great things about this planner (including that it ran longer than just a year which was great for planning ahead for January and February 2022 while we were still in 2021). However, I just didn’t use the project plan at all – which was a shame as it is a great feature. However, I think that this was because I was less inspired to do any projects this year (probably due to Covid).

The Planner itself is great as it is large with plenty of planning space. This means that you can do a lot of planning and/or means that you can brighten it up with stickers and decorations and still have space to plan. However, the downside of this is that you will use it at home as a desk planner, you are less likely to carry this planner around with you. This has been okay during the pandemic and while working from home etc, but this is not great if you are like planning on the go.

I had great fun decorating the planner with awesome stickers.

The second part of the planner (after the calendar) is the notebook. This has a Table of Contents and 136 paginated pages with a dot-grid layout. I usually just get a monthly planner and keep it separate from my various notebooks, and this stayed true. I didn’t use it as much as I thought I would. In fact other than planning the A to Z Challenge I didn’t use it at all.

When I was looking back at this notebook I was thinking what a real waste that I didn’t use the notebook section of this planner, so instead I’ve been using it as my monthly notebook this month (and ignoring the calendar/planner section that I’ve already used). In fact it has been great as a monthly notebook, the pagination and dot grid work really well for monthly notebooks, but as this planner is a softcover planner it properly lies flat and you can keep it open on your desk and use it /refer to it easily which some of the hard cover notebooks don’t do as well. I might have to now get a regular softcover notebook from LEUCHTTURM 1917 for future use as I’ve not used a large softcover version before as a monthly notebook.
