Livework Washi Tape

I am not a huge fan of Washi Tape despite being a huge fan of Japanese Stationery.  Washi is traditional Japanese paper. The word “washi” comes from wa meaning ‘Japanese’ and shi meaning ‘paper’. Washi tape is decorative coloured adhesive tape that you see all over Instagram and Pinterest making beautiful journal layouts.

However, the Universe Collection from Livework popped into my inbox via Fox + Star – and I’ve got to say I was majorly tempted.  I am always tempted by this Korean brand (as can be evidenced by a number of recent purchases).

I had to stop myself from buying the whole collection. I settled on buying 4:

  • Moon Pattern Washi Tape – white stars and moons speckled across a purple-blue night sky.
  • Cloud Washi Tape – fluffy clouds on a bright blue sky.
  • Days Washi Tape –  rainbow gradation palette featuring Monday-Sunday and also includes ‘today’ and ‘happy day!’ designs.
  • Dates Washi Tape – rainbow coloured chunky ombre numbers

The Details:

  • single roll
  • 15mm x 10m
  • design by Livework
  • made in Korea

Trying them out:

I decided to use the washi tape to have a go at decorating my livework minimal monthly planner.  The livework planner has both monthly and weekly pages. My monthly pages tend to be fairly busy – but my weekly pages are more mundane so I used the washi to create a colourful border.

The weekly view was then updated to include my to-do list for the week – in Pigma micron purple to go with the Washi Tape.

I am really enjoying using them so far… as a washi novice. Starting small and we will see where we get to.  If you are a Washi fan I would highly recommend this stunning collection.
