The December box was back to the classic pocket notebooks (my favourite). It was not Christmas themed (thankfully). Instead, it included two of Stuart’s favourite editions of the year. Both sets were new notebooks from two of my favourite brands which was great.

Field Notes Coastal

These notebooks are part of the Field Notes Spring Limited Edition. Two sets of Coastal were produced by Field Notes: East and West Coast options. Celebrating the left and right edges of the USA, each Coastal pack displays a coastline across the three notebooks in the pack.  I received the Coastal East Pack which shows the Atlantic coast from Maine to Florida.  

The coastal line on the covers is made holographic foils on a light gray background. Therefore they change colour depending on the angle and the light. The specifications (according to the website) are as follows:

• Cover: Neenah Classic Crest “Cadet Gray” 100#C, printed with white digital ink and stamped with Crown foils 210F-107 and 563F-107 by Nu Wave Die Cutting & Finishing, Chicago, Ill. 

• Innards: Finch Paper Opaque Smooth 60#T “Bright White,” with a split-fountain application of “Coastal Blue” and “Coastal Green” soy-based Saphira inks.
• Cover printed on a Hewlett-Packard Indigo 12000 29″ digital press; Innards printed on a Heidelberg Speedmaster XL 105 40″ 6-color offset press.

• Bound with a Heidelberg Stitchmaster ST 270 5-pocket saddle stitcher with cover feeder/scorer & Rima RS 10S in-line stacker, with appreciation to Samuel Slocum, George W. McGill, and William J. Brown, the “Founding Fathers of the Staple.”

• Corners precisely rounded to a 3/8″ (9.5mm) radius with a Challenge SCM double round-corner machine.

• Reticle grid: 3/16″ × 3/16″ (4.7mm × 4.7mm).

• Memo book dimensions are 3-1/2″ × 5-1/2″ (89mm × 140mm). 

SMR by Story Supply Co. 

The second three-pack of notebooks in the subscription box was SMR by Story Supply Co. Another limited edition pack with only 650 packs made. 
This Edition was inspired by a 60’s classic, The Endless Summer, a quirky documentary about a couple of surfers who travel the world in search of the perfect wave.

The specification according to the website is as follows:
