The Notem Studio 2020 Annual Journal (weekly layout) A5 in Green is a flat lay binding and both a monthly overview and a weekly overview with vertical columns. I didn’t use this planner at all in Q1. I started using it in Q2 and I’ve now hit the sweet spot with it at the end of Q3 and going into Q4. This one is definitely on the re-order list for 2021.
This planner was originally planned to be a professional diary. However, due to Covid-19 I’ve ended up using this for my voluntary activities.
As a recap: This annual journal is a thick sturdy volume with 225 pages. The spine is left open and not fixed onto the cover of this journal. That makes the spine visible when you open the journal and presents a perfectly flat surface, with a seamless transition between left and right. Although you do need to lean on something to write in the journal right at the beginning of the planner.
This diary features:
- Contact information page
- Yearly overview of 2020 / 2021
- Monthly overview – month by month
- Weekly overview – vertical columns
- Pages for notes
I am using the monthly overview for noting key dates and awareness days etc and then I am using my Weekly Overview as vertical to-do lists for each day. The pages are thick and luxurious and feel great to write on and the lay-flat binding makes it perfect for reviewing your week in a weekly layout.
For Q3 as I started to do more things – I started to split the to-do list on the weekly pages so that the first lines were reserved for events and meetings (i.e. any calendar entries) before moving onto the to-do list. I also got into the routine of focusing my planning on the week and anything I didn’t get to would get re-written into the following week so that no to-do list item got left behind.
Additionally, I have found that the journal pages for notes (of which there are approx 70) are great for more detailed content and keeping it all on one place, such as for notes on projects and meetings etc. rather than needing a separate notebook for this kind of stuff. It is rare for planners to include a decided number of pages for notes and journalling (which I expect is why this particular diary/planner is called an annual journal).
