When I first looked into stationery shopping in UAE it looked rather limited. Googling stationery shops in Abu Dhabi only brought up a couple of stationery companies, the shops within the Malls appeared to be limited to the same brands we have over here in the UK (such as Typo and Paperchase) and within Bookstores (such as Borders and WH Smith).
However, one gem I did find was the Louvre Abu Dhabi Gift Shop (Boutique). The Louvre was already on our maybe list but it had now jumped up the list of places to visit while in Abu Dhabi.
Abu-Dhabi Mall (Abu Dhabi)
Despite being called the “Abu Dhabi” Mall it is quite small. However, we were staying close to it (it is very central) and decided to give it a visit. The shops are a mix of local and western brands with many of the shoppers appearing to be locals.
The only stationery store (that I could find) was Typo. A quick look told me that the stock was the same/similar to that here in the UK so I didn’t buy anything as I wanted to save the limited space in my suitcase for other options.
Borders and Paperchase were coming soon. So also keep your eyes out for these if you are visiting in the future.

Yas Mall (Yas Island)
Yas Mall is a much bigger mall with a greater selection of shops (I was there for a couple of hours and still didn’t get all the way around it). Again the stationery shops were limited to brands that you can find here in the UK and mainly within bookstores such as Borders and WH Smith.
However, they did also have a Muji. Muji is a Japanese retail company that sells minimalist household items including stationery and storage and while you can find it in the UK (London, Birmingham and Manchester) and online I do not have one locally that I can visit. So I was excited to buy some affordable stationery goodies from Muji.

The Louvre Abu Dhabi Boutique (Saadiyat Island)
Gift shops can be a great place to pick up some more unique stationery. The Louvre in Abu Dhabi is a stunning building and the Museum Boutique has designer products and a fantastic collection of Art and Architecture Books. It also includes a wide range of gifts and souvenirs including notebooks and other stationery items.

Ferrari World (Yas Island)
The Ferrari World Store had a collection of amazing collectable pens available for Ferrari fans. Some of the collection appeared to be unique to Ferrari World, but if you can’t make the trip – some of the pens (writing instruments) available from Ferrari can also be found online. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find any notebooks to add to the collection (although I did get a couple of pressed pennies).
