Another use for any notebook (although particularly good for a plain pocket notebook) is for collecting ink stamps when you are out and about (as a tourist).
In Japan, I used a Scribe Pocket Notebook to collect ink stamps from their tourist sites like the one pictured above. The Scribe notebook which has 100 gsm white paper was perfect for this as it had high-quality paper, durable cover and was pocket-sized so it could easily fit in my bag.
Here is another example using the Field Notes Northerly Edition which shows that the light grey background also works well for collecting stamps.
